problem with downloading program

Ok, I switched to a new computer, downloaded and installed the drivers for my USB-serial adaptor (AirLink 101), then selected the correct COM port # for the Javelin IDE to download to.

When I turn on my javelin and click "program," it says "reseting javelin..." then as soon as it says "downloading" the terminal window shows up with messages indicating that the javelin is executing its code (the old program). It is like my javelin is sending messages to the terminal window WHILE it is trying to download the new program. Any suggestions?

    Have you tried this?

Also, select only com1 to com4

I ran that, it showed the first few lines of the string that my javelin's old program prints to the terminal window then the window closed. It apparently didn't do anything because my javelin's old program still works, and I still get the same error when downloading. I was using COM4, but I tried another USB port (COM5) and I get the same thing. Maybe I should find older drivers for my serial/USB adaptor? Is there anything else that I should check? Thanks.

The latency setting for your usb serial port must be set to mnimum.

Best option is to have a serial port on your pc.
Second best option is to get the parallax usb2ser cable (has an FTDI chip)
    that is guaranteed to work.

However, if it worked before with the same setup, can you try another javelin?
or at least disconnect anything from the javelin.

Ok, I tried downloading a different driver, and it works now! I guess the other driver wasn't for my cable or maybe it had some bugs in it. Thanks.

    Bulkhead,

For the benefit of others can you specify what adapter/drivers you are using, and which you had problems with?

    Thanks.

The adaptor I am using is marked "Airlink 101." The driver installation file says, "PL-2303" from "Prolific Technology Inc." If anyone else needs these drivers, PM me and I'll send them.

    I·also have a usb2ser cable with a PL2303 chip that works.
I got my driver from here:
    http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?ID=31

Which driver from that page did you use?

Um, I am not exactly sure which one of those, but based on the size of the files in that link, I'd say the first one (~1.4Mb).
