please help me in my printer projct

I have to used ink jet print on a pepar size 1/4 " thick piece of wood board as a class project. I was wonder if any body can help me to do so. Any advice to start will be appreciated? Can I use the head of ink jet hp printer to move on top of the my wood object and how or I need to buy a printer kit?

You could do this building your own device or get the kit from parallax but just what is the class project? You are a little short on details.

Thanks for respond to my eamil. For our intodution to engineering class. We plan to make an artistic drawing with copper powder on a piece of wodden board. We like to fill cartridge with glue and change the pinter head ( 890 C HP we have couple of them) to print glue on the board then spray cooper powder. Now we try to find out:
1- How the comands and what type from computer goes to printer
2-How can we use these comands to move printer head instead of paper
3- which parallax kit we need to purchase?
4- Is ther any reading material about printer mechanisem and cartridge ?
5-Any suggestion is appreciated

It works great dispensing ink, but considering the viscosity of glue it probably won't work with glue.
