Hello,

There's a fantastic video from Ohio State Univerisity Associate Professor Ken Rinaldo showing·off his "Autotelematic Spider Bots" at http://www.osu.edu/features/2006/rinaldo/.

This exhibit has a· number of Parallax products, including the BASIC Stamp BS2p, Ping))) Ultrasonic Sensor, EmbeddedBlue RF Modules, Infrared Sensors, etc. It's amazing what this guy is able to accomplish.

I love the way these things move... very impressive!

Can't wait to see how much better he can make these with Propellers! Continuous realtime everything including communication between themselves. The possiblities are very powerful.....

    that was awesome,

I've always wondered how people do those flexible necks on robots... It seems like the wires might be hooked upto something like a servo and then to the 'eyes', then with the servos regulate the tension of each wire. I could be very off, but I've always been very impressed by those flexible robotics parts, I think I may mave to try to make something like that.

Thanks a lot Ken, I really enjoyed that video.

It looks like he's using muscle wire, its a wire that can move with no servos or anything http://www.robotstore.com/store/default.asp?catid=1569

I doubt that is muscle wire- it does not flex nearly that much, without putting multiple strands together, using gearing, etc.

    Hello,

·· Actually as I recall Ken is using servos to move all those limbs.
