Magnet / battery interference???

Basic question for y'all......

Would a magnet on a battery case holder interfere with the operation of the batteries? I have gone through my electronics books and searched the net but can't find an answer. It would be a fairly strong magnet holding the case in verticle position.

If the magnet is not moving in relationship to the wires near it, it generally does nothing.

Great. Thanks for the fast response. I just realized I should have been more specific and said they are NiMH AA's. I'm glad this will be ok. It makes my holder mounting MUCH easier especially when time to remove the batteries for recharging.

    Thanks for your help.

Both motors and generators require movement through a magnetic field to create EMF.

While floppy disks and storage devices that use Ferric Oxide will get damaged by magnets and you can distort images on Cathode Ray Tubes, just having a solid magnet next to a wire won't really do anything.

It is all about the change in the magnetic field. NO change, no problem.

If it is an electromagnet and you turn it on and off, you are able to create significant EMF. That might not be so good.
This is why relays require protection diodes.

It really doesn't matter which kind of battery.
