I have SERIAL BOE-BOT KIT

can i some how or any how make it comaptible to work with my laptop which do not have serial.

is there any acessory i can use to conevrt it to USB

i donot want to buy new· USB boe bot

    You should be abble to get a serial to USB adapter for a really good price at a local electronic store·(I got mine for $19.99).· It was by a company called: "Cables unlimited".· Hope that helps.

    Beware of usb 2 serial products not sold by Parallax, some work, some dont. It must support RS232 handshaking to be able to program the stamp, and quite a few don't.

    Even the ones that do support the handshaking signals can have poorly written drivers or lack of support for older functions of the serial protocol which aren't used much anymore, such as being able to perform a break condition.

    I have to put ' {$PORT COM4} before every code document to run on my labtop's USB.

    This indicates you have the default COM Port set to something else, so it ignores it unless you specify in a directive.· That is an easy fix.· Go to Edit, Preferences, Editor Operation and set the default COM Port to AUTO.
