synchronous serial speed

async serial relies on the agreed speed at which the transmitter and receiver will be communicating with and the control bits but syncrhonous relies on a common clock. How come I never hear of how fast synchronous serial transmit at? What is the clock speed that the stamp uses for sync serial? sorry if it's a stupid question.

    If you look at SHIFTIN, SHIFTOUT, I2CIN, and I2COUT in the manual you'll see the bit rates for the various Stamp modules (note that the I2C commands only apply to the P family). Manufacturers' spec sheets for synchronous serial parts will list a maximum bit rate for the device.
