These are great little devices that Bean is selling for almost nothing and can be used with BasicStamps to provide all sorts of program info.
Use them as counters, hexdecimal display, program status·or menu selectors.
I just ordered 10 for $27USD.· US shipping is $5.
The Numeric LEDS will ususally cost this much alone!

·· I tested a couple of these modules and found they do work exactly as described.· Of course, make sure your application does not require decimal points and these will be just fine.· 5V and direct connection to the BASIC Stamp using 2 I/O pins.

The photos look like they have them, but they are not connected, not supported by the controller.
What I really need are . . . . .
- a minute or second timer for relay on/off cycle using a BS24
- a hexdecimal display for a BS24 or the SX-28 chip
. . . [this is a debugging and learning feature for op codes and assembly language]
- possilbe range indicator for voltage or position using a BS24
- a frequency counter using a BS24
- a menu number indicator using a BS24
- a diagnostic code output using a BS24
As you can see, the decimal point is really trivial.
They provide a low cost, small size, and reasonably low power [60ma] information source.
All I have to do is add a few push buttons to select and reset.
Since they only demand merely two pins of I/O, they are superior to an LCD [which takes 7 pins].
