Serial LCD Interface Kit

Hey, I'm sort of new at interfacing an LCD to my BOE. I have an LCD that has 16 pins on it and would LOVE to reduce it down to the +5, GND and Serial connections... I have found this Serial LCD Interface Kit and would just like to know whether you guys think it would do what I'm hoping it would do??

A more cost effective solution is to purchase a pre-built serial LCD; if you buy from Parallax you don't have to worry about support.
