I just noticed that there is a typo in the description for The Sandbox on the main forum page: "Topics related to the use of Parallax products but not spedifically addressed by an individual forum."

It may seem trivial, but it certainly wasn't obvious to me. Chris has to point it out to me.
It is a really nice feature because it allows one to open a second window and locate either support or shopping information while they are discussing a topic.
In other words, it increases the accuracy of the information provided.

The ironic thing about the Mac is that when the original Mac came out I was excited about it because it had a graphical interface. When OS X came out the thing that excited me most was the Unix command line.

The rule is automatic for me now, but I used to remember it by noting that the apostrophe is there to represent missing letters. For "it is", the apostrophe is there in place of the missing "i". With the possessive, there are no missing letters.

There is one exception to this rule, and that is if the word already ends in an S, you just put the apostrophe on its own without an extra trailing S. However you are quite correct in that the original word loses no letters.
For example, my first name is Ross, and it is written as "Its Ross' squirrel!" not "Its Ross's squirrel!"
The question here, is would you use"it's" as in "It is Ross' squirrel!" (referencing an object) or "Its Ross' squirrel!" (as a possesive) ? I suppose you could use either, depending on the situation......?

Ross has a drinking problem.· It's difficult to keep hidden.· Ross·has a·pink squirrel because its·appearance is like that of a srawberry shake.

I struggled to come up the above and its grammar (and spelling) may not be pefrect, but it's the best I could do on short notice, and has all the "its" and "it's" correct. (I believe.)

Anyway, consider:
Likewise:
· I was at the gun show, a number of years ago, and one vendor had some bumper stickers.· One that I "liked" in particular read, "NO GUN PULLS IT'S OWN TRIGGER."· I had a couple of my own made up: "NO GUN PULLS ITS OWN TRIGGER."· Yeah, baby.· OK.
· The first day out, some id-dominated jerk pulled alongside me and yelled, "Hey, it's i-t-apostrophe-s, you illiterate gun-nut!"· At the next light, Santa Clara is just chock-full-o' traffic signals... it was my turn.

You are correct, it would be "It's Ross' squirrel!!". For some reason the more i think about something like that the more I confuse myself. Amazing really considering I'm English and have had it drilled through my head for all eternity. I suppose it's all just automatic really, but run into problems if I stop and think about it :)
John R,
"Ross has a drinking problem. It's difficult to keep hidden. Ross has a pink squirrel because its appearance is like that of a srawberry shake."
Yes that's all correct :) Except the fact it's nothing to do with a strawberry shake or any other beverage, alcoholic or otherwise, and all to do with an evil of which I can only pray you will never encounter the likes of. And he has huge (pointy) teeth.
