I may be a tiny bit biased, but here how I see it...

    SX advantages:
    · Speed 75MIPS
    · Deterministic Interrupts
    · Stabile Design
    · Great free support
    · Free Basic Compiler (SX/B)
    · Inexpensive hardware debugger & in-circuit programmer·(SX-Key)

    PIC advantages:
    · Onboard perpherials

    Bean.

Is the SX assembler syntax similar to the PIC's?

    Hi Bean;

I fully agree, but........ how could you miss the exceptional inexpensive harware debugging key?

For me, that is one of the biggest features!

    Cheers,

Personally I like both. Think of like this, the more tools you have in your tool box, the more

likely you to accomplish any task.· This was how it was explained to me in a book about micro-controllers

(written by Chuck Hellebuyck). The sx has excellent support, and its very inexpensive to get started with.

The PICs have·a ton and I mean a TON of different chips to choose from.

Both have their·good points.· The only downside to the SX is that they seem to be a little hard to

    come by at the moment.·

"...at the moment" is accurate due to the change from Ubicom to Parallax; that will be sorted very soon, and chips will flow freely. Thanks for your patience, it's been a bit tough on our organization.
