MAX1270 and LM34

Hi, I am trying to get the MAX1270 to work with an LM34 temperature sensor very similar to how it was done in the Industrial Control text with the ADC0831.· I have tried and tried, but cannot get it to work.· I do not understand what I am doing wrong.· I believe it has something to do with my "control byte" or the use of the CS pin.· I have attached· the circuit diagram and the code I am working with.· Can someone please help.
My ultimate goal is to have all 8 inputs working, but just getting one to work would fine for now.
-I have also borrowed code from the "Nuts and Bolts" "Cup of Joe" article.
