Sound to light using an SX28

I wanted to see what the guys on the forum would think about this project and if it is possible. I would like to take a SX28 and do Sound to LED light control. The idea is to feed audio into a volume level control circuit then to a· circuit that would seperate low, mid and high frequencies then to A/D convertors·and then·to the SX for processing. This processing could sample amplitude, frequency (if not using frequency seperation before the A/D convertor then the processor could ), i guess the processor could do the A/D if it could. Then the processor can control colors red, green and blue of each led based on frequency, amplitude and do pattens triggered by sound.· I have included a couple of variations.
Thanks,
Kevin

If you thoroughly studied the FFT and virtual A/D app notes on the PArallax website, you might get a good appreciation of what's involved.
The quick answer is yes, it can be done, but it is not trivial and will be a lot of homework on your part.

I thought this might be a useable idea and is something i can always do later on! Thanks for the response!

This algorithm can take your audio input (which is in the time domain) and output it in the frequency domain.· Can be used to determine what frequencies are contained within a given waveform.
