reaction timer

hi everyone
···· my class is building a reaction timer it has 5 lights that run like a stop light when a button is pressed. when the green light turns the 2 people playing are suposed to try to get there button pushed first when they push there button it stars a row of lights that run down a track in a sequence then the first to push the button at the end wins. then we are wiring in a reset button to restart the whole thing. our problem is that the second basic stamp board doesnt regester a 1 when the first one sents it a current as the green light turns on so it doesnt turn the 2nd light string on. if anyone can help i would app. it i probably just confused alot of you though thanks much
