Making Autonomous Electric Ridein/Gocart Car

Well I had many crazy projects during the days, and I have another one that is less crazy.
I thought I will start from the bottom, after assembling and dissembling like 10 times, I got bored of
Playing with a little Autonomous robot.
·
··· I thought why not transform that into an Autonomous Electric Ridein/Gocart Car.
First I thought if I could build a battery circuit I could be able to pull it off.
But then I don’t know how to build a battery circuit. Also I need wire extender for the 2 sensors (PING))) ™ Ultrasonic Sensor) which can see up to 9feet. One added to the left, the other to the right. Plainly the same codes as the ir navigation code.
All I need to know is how to make a Battery circuit for a ride in car, and if I could get this project done I could innovate from there.

What do you mean by battery circuit?

    A charger circuit?
What kind of batteries are you going to use? What are they rated for (voltage/current/Amp-hour)?

If you plan on havin this thing going at any high speed, ultasonic will not work. By time the sensors see, transfer, and the robot reacts, half of the fram is going to crumpled up against what ever it was supposed to be avoiding. I would recommend using Lidar, it can detect stuff at farther differences, there isn't as much interference, and it allows your system to create a virtual map. It's what the 7th version (current robot) uses in combination to usb cameras for it's object avoidance. If you want any thing similarly related to the Darpa challenge, watch Nova's video on it. It's great: www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/darpa/program.html

Also, for anything highly advance and powerful for things like the Darpa challenge, I would recommend Freescales 32-bit processors for that application. (some are over 1GHz in speed for the PowerPC models). www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/homepage.jsp?nodeId=0162468rH3&tid=FSH or if that doesnt work, use: www.freescale.com/ for the main page and click on the 32-bit's.

I already seen Darpa challenge like 10 times, and listened to it like 100 times. I also watched it on pbs on March 28, 2006, 8:00pm.

    · You were right about that ultasonic.

Have you googled for an Inertial Measurement unit?

Geez, just by the sounds of it, it'd be expensive.· Of course, you could probably figure out a suitable arrangment of accellerometers that would give you the information you are after!

There's been a couple of "balancing robots" that can stay upright on two wheels using just an accellerometer....

And again you didn't answer what you wanted in a battery circuit!?· Are you looking for a charger?· What "TYPE" of battery is it? (gel cell, lead-acid, AGL?, or something else?)· The material that makes up the battery helps determine what kind of charging it can take.

Once again, the more information you provide in your request, the better someone on the forum can help!

I don’t need the battery circuit anymore, since I have been doing research. I figured I need powerful servos, and I need to make a drive-by-wire. I am trying to get sponsored by stick, and Navcom.
Website: http://www.batbot.whitelightercentral.com. Well the reason why I don’t need the battery circuit is that am getting sponsored from a go-kart company, well I still need the battery circuit but not now.
Since the Darpa Grand challenge 2006 already started, I am looking forward for 07.

I am also recruiting people to join my team, remember grand prize is 2million (not that I need it).

Not sure if Parallax is aware they are considered a "PARTNER" in Batman's efforts. At least according to the link he posted for batbot....

Inertia thingies -- Freescale has some nice accelerometers. I got some samples of them, and they work very nicely.

I just finish programming simple pathfinding/planplanning software, which I am going to toss. I am switching to heavy weight, which is VB.net.
The software has 5 programmed paths. Then when I click create path. It randomly selects one, and as it moves that character from point·A to Point B it moves my·boebot as well. This is pretty simple.

That's Great -- because 99% of "Making Autonomous Electric Ridein/Gocart Car" is getting the Website layout tweaked just so.· Bravo.

    lol

The other 1% is the software.· Hardware builds itself.

...I wonder what XBox360 thinks about his website, also.· www.xbox360.com
