Distance with a MEMSIC 2125

I was thinking in using a MEMSIC 2125 accelerometer to do a low cost pedometer for my early morning run. I bought it for use with my basic stamp 2p,·but my little project·is not as easy as I thought.·Am I in the right path·using·the MEMSIC 2125?·If I am what code would help me?
