Solar measurements....what one might expect

Hey folks,

This isn't directly related to a stamp project I have done....but might give someone an idea what to expect if wanting to monitor solar energy/light.

Before Christmas I installed a number of environmental sensors as part of a field project at work.
(some of the gear: laser Ceilometer, Precip doppler radar (vertical), hotplate precip sensors, standard temps and wind, visibility sensor and barometry...etc...)
One of the items that I hadn't played with too much was a Licor Radiation sensor.
A fairly sensitive device, it is mounted on a tower and will actually detect the shadow from one of the guy-wires.

The past few hours at the site has been clear with little or no clouds and high visibility.
I've attached a graph of the Licor sensor, showing the·data ramp somewhat linearly as the sun rose.· You can see a slight blip at about 1146z which may be one of the guy wires shadowing the sensor (or it could've been a small cloud).

Anyhow, just thought it was interesting....it's the first "smooth" graph we've had since installation (as we've had lots of cloud/precip at the site since install).
