I bought my Javelin stamp about a year ago.· I have been pretty happy with it and Parallax support for it.· So when I got the latest Parallax catalog, I was very sorry to see that it doesn't look like it is being marketed any longer.· What gives ?

The Java Optimzed Processor [JOP:http://www.jopdesign.com/] project appears to have a JVM implementation that will run on the Altera FPGA boards that Parallax is offering now. However, I too would be disappointed if Parallax has discontinued the Javelin Stamp.

I have it from a very reliable source inside Parallax that the Javelin is NOT discontinued and there will even be promotions for the Javelin coming in the future. I was told that it was for space considerations that it was not put in the latest catalog. So, DO NOT read anything into it. Parallax will be continuing the Javelin, supporting it, and promoting it. The inside source told me that sales of the chip were strong so they plan to continue with the Javelin.

Currently there are no plans to EOL the Javelin. Just ask Dave A. about the new sign he made for the tech support department.

    Deep throat here!

The omission was either an oversight or space consideration, and which one it is I do not recall. Javelin continues to sell well and there are no plans to discontinue the module. The only thing that could change this is our ability to make future changes to the IDE, and if that becomes a problem we'd likely just open-source the whole thing.
