the idea is to put my homework board up in my window sill and to count how many times my cat jumps into the window and jumps down during the night. i have the PIR sensor and would just like to know how I could store the value and recall it since I will have to unplug it from the computer and possibly power. is this possible? what would be the best way of powering it while keeping the PIR warmed up?

·· You could increment a counter and write it to EEPROM every update, just as long as it doesn't happen too often.· EEPROM has a finite write lifetime, though on the BS2 it's around 10 million writes.
