Hi,
I would like to use my MadCatz Xbox (original Xbox) wireless controller to send command to my robot.
Is this possible? Where can I find info. schematic on hacking the controller?
Thanks Gilles

Actually the controller for the original Xbox is RF not IR. There is a small RF receiver that plugs in to a controller port. It has a switch at the bottom to select bw frequencies to allow 4 wireless to be used without interfering with each other. Any suggestions?

Ops i was thinking the new xbox sorry ok the pins on the thing that oes in the xbox needs a power suply 3 volts and about 1/4 amp sould do it the rest of the pins on reciver are control pins i did this befor but it was witha cable so this might be odd, the thing i did was make a npn cirrcit with 2 leds conect one wire from the reciver to it test everything on the controller to see if it has polarity like if you hit up does a led turn on the npn cirrcit is one led on the base so that would be conected from base-positive and the other led if from the emiter has a led that goes emiter to nagtive, then if theere is no wire on the collector all leds sould be on ,if the collector is on one of the pins on the reciver and and you hit a and a light comes on then you can tell whats what the nlt problem is on the reciver you need to find the positive and nagative pins

I think Xbox controllers use a USB type communication interface? I don't think its been done with a stamp before. You may be able to get a wireless PS2 controller working...

The PS2 controller is a synchronous device -- like a shift-register and is easily connected to a BASIC Stamp. I've written about this in Nuts & Volts magazine. The XBox controller is indeed USB, and putting a USB master onto a small micro is not easily accomplished; you might check into USB accessory chips (master) if that's really what you want to do. What will likely be more difficult is getting the controller protocol from Microsoft.

Don't know about the wireless ones but the wired 360 controllers are compatible with the Mac and PC.
