Javelin Direct for Linux

I am planning to port the Javelin direct code to Linux. I've looked at the code and it looks like it was written for maximum portability, so I don't think the port will be much of a problem at all.
But before I invest the effort, I thought I'd check this forum to see if anyone's done this, and if there are any issues I should watch out for?
Specifically, has anyone written a front end (in Swing, perhaps?) in Java that I could use? I figure I can compile and link edit the code to run on Linux, and use it from the command line. But a UI is always a nice thing to have.
Thanks.
