I have 2 6v lead acid batteries in series and need 9v from that for a pair of DC motors. Does anybody know of a 9v regulator chip and where i can get it? I have seen 5v and 12v but nothing for 9. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you easily get a tightly regulated 9 volts and can go well beyond the 500ma to 1amp limit of most linear regulators.
Take a look at the Manufaturer's PDF for a circuit.

There is the possilbity of one confusing the other. Eventually, you get a runaway condition.
But, you can separately supply each motor.
