Tire gauge hacks???

Hey guys,
a coworker just showed me his new tire pressure gadget....apparently it only cost him $10.
So it got me thinking....what's the sensor inside that determines pressure!!??
Anyone hacked one of these to see if its connectable to a stamp/SX??
