Well folks, I have some great news!· I'm getting married this July!· I moved to Oslo, Norway, from Upstate NY.· Sadly I had to sell off most everything I owned, since moving the stuff there would be too much of a hassle, I just kept my cd's, dvd's and ofcourse my Parallax stuff, plus a few things, etc.· The most sad thing that I had to part out was my computer that Chris Savage put together for me, only thing I took out was the sound card, and video card so I can upgrade my fiances computer, oh and I'm bringing my Samsung flat panel monitor.··· Not all is lost though, My fiance just bought me a killer new laptop, you can see the specs here: http://www.vdhsoft.be/specs/24799.htm·.· Anyways, Chris has been nagging me to build my boe bot, that I've now had for about a year that is till in pieces...· Yes Chris once I settle in here in Norway I will build it!·
Anyways, I do have a question...· is it possable to somehow add a remote sensor to a lamp, and use some kind of remote control to turn it on and off?· Using PBASIC ofcourse....· I've been wondering about this for a while...
Anyways see you all around.· Especially you, Chris!·

Your fiancee must be one h*ck of a woman if you're willing to move halfway across the world.
Have you looked at the X-10 stuff?
Don't know if any of it is legal for use here in Norway...
Generally look for either the 'square inside a square', the 'N within a circle' or CE logos on anything you want to connect to the AC. (The 'N within a circle is for NEMCO, a Norwegian test which is 'a bit better than the CE standards') the S(Sweden) and DK(Denmark) logos are also good stuff.
I assume that you know that the AC is 220V 50Hz.
Just don't call the wires 'Live' and 'Neutral' as I understand they're called in America, as generally with AC systems, both are live...
(I believe the terminology is a remnant from Edison's first installations which were DC.)

X-10 is more for communicaton between rooms, right?
RS-485 is attractive if you don't might running a pair of light guage wires.
Take your time on learning Norwegein, Scandinavian languages are somewhat tonal and take a few years of listening to get up to speed. Trying to make it happen quickly will just frustrate you. Think osmosis.

Only 'somewhat tonal'?
The first thing he has to learn is the additional vocals (
There's no magots or anything like that....but the meat partially hardens or something....almost like jerky or smoked meat.
Rather nasty stuff!

2) We'll observe a moment of silence for the fallen super computer.·
3) Definately get the BOE-Bot built.· Then you can share you experiences with the others who have built them.· Perhaps move on to a Hex Crawler later.
4) This would be easy enough.· As was mentioned you could use an X-10 module if they're supported over there.· If not you could always use a relay if not an SSR.· On the remote side there is a text that shows how to use a universal remote control with the BASIC Stamp.· Check out the book at the following link.· A free download in PDF format.
