I forgot to mention that you can do some rough speed control by using numbers close to the neutral setting, but it doesn't usually work all that well. Servos have a dead band built in so they don't "hunt" when used for position control.
Also, the response of motors isn't linear, so the servos will want to start running near full speed with nunbers only a little more or less than neutral.
