Ordered my BOE tractor treads today. Sick of wheels

Well you only live once and you can't take it with you.

So I put down my nickels and dimes for tractor/crawler treads for my BOE-bot.· Now it can climb over rather than bump around things at home.· It also makes a lot more sense to have the Memsic on board.

    Kramer,

·· I got mine before coming to Parallax and I must admit, it opened some new doors for the BOE-Bot, since I never ran it outside until I got the tank treads.

Yeah, I am now painting my BOEbot chassis in camo. There is just something about the feel of 'raw' aluminum that I don't like. I just happened to buy a couple of spray cans of paint - dark yellow and olive green for another project.

I am wondering if I have to make all the non-driving hubs spin freely or if they are merely for support. I guess the documentation should say, but I haven't found it in there. It just seems too straight forward to bother reading docs.

They should all spin freely...Anything that doesn't will put extra load on the servos and potentially cause binding.

Kramer - I painted all the "ugly" orange hubs flat black and had no problem having them spin freely. I used spray paint and applied many thin coats so there wouldn't be any globs of paint...

My appologies in advance if I have offended anyone who actually likes the cheap plasticy orange look.

I like the idea of changing the color of the Boe-Bot and tread hubs.. can't wait to get my tank treads.. unfortunately/fortunately my treads are bundled with an order of HB-25's so still waiting on those. :-(

The chassis is mainly 'dark yellow' [a Desert Storm Humvee yellow] with splatters of Olive Drab and splatters of black, but I guess I could do all the hubs in Olive Drab.

Funny, but the Orange didn't offend me as it seems a natural color to indicate 'dangerous machinery'. I really have to think if I want to keep it or completely Camo the BOEbot.

Belatedly read the documentation after drilling the wrong holes for the Servo hubs. I guess we never really learn to do things in order.
Either I have to locate some more screws [not too hard] or replace the hubs [not too hard ethier].

Chris, I apologize for not reading the documents. I am just making you work more. I guess human nature provides you with job security, but I should at least say, thanks.
