I do not want to abuse the forums rules·therefore, anyone wanting to buy a copy of my board, must PM me. I don't have many left so it is going to have to be FIFO.
SN96 - I don't think that the forum has a problem with you providing a link to your website so folks can order a product that works with a Basic Stamp... Look at Bean... he is very active in the forums, very well respected in the forums, and he promotes the heck out of HITT Consulting and his video product (which is a top notch product if I must say!). I don't want to jump over you and post a link to your website, but I really can't see how anyone would have issue over it. I leave the decision to you.
BTW, thanks for the great customer service and easy ordering process! Can't wait for UPS to deliver my boards!
Mike you can always incorp your website in your user profile, then direct people to click the home icon under your avatar when they ask, its unobtrusive and built in.
Hi. In an old attic I recently found a Audio Sensor that is at leat 30 years old! It works fairly well, doesn't require too much power either. Its simplicity is the amazing part. I was wondering why Parallax doesn't sell these for maybe 5 dollars each. A lot of people would like hearing robots...
It was designed for a burgulary alarm. When the crystal mike hears a sound, it acts as a switch and lets current through.
PS- I can post a schematic if someone can direct me to a FREE schematic software.
Express PCB is much better for quick schematic "sketches" and it prints out hi quality using a laser printer. Eagle Cad is also very good but a learning curve might be greater than using ExpressPCB, especially if you want to make a custom schematic symbol that is not available in the library.
I usually use ExpressPCB's schematic drawing program to get the idea down on paper and for easy changes, then I use eagle to redraw the schematic.
SN96,
I was just now reading your thread and I'm glad to see that great minds think alike. About a year ago I finally finished the Head of a large android type robot that I've been working on. I mounted two electret mic preamps on each side of the head that go to two ADC0831's to a BS2. I was able to do some hardware filtering on the preamps in order to tune them somewhat to my voice and also some digital filtering in an effort to block unwanted noise. The code I wrote myself but if Williams helped you then I know your code is probably far better then mine. Even with my mediocre code ,when I walk around my robot talking to it, it's head follows me. I also did alot of experimenting with the mounting angle of the "Ears" front to back and I was able to differentiate between equal sounds coming from the front as opposed to equal sounds coming from the rear. At any rate I'd love to see the code that you used if possible.
Jon did not help me with the code, all I did was modify the exsisting example code on Parallax's web. I have provided a copy of this modified code on the very first page of this thread near the bottom. It sounds like yo have done a very good job with your design. I do not have hardware filtering like you describe, instead, my design simply listens for sound and sends that data to the stamp.
It is unlikely since the device would be limited to the frequency range that the microphone can pick up, which is usually well within human range.· In fact, many cap off between 10 kHz and 15 kHz.

The electret mics I am using are rated for 30-15,000Hz frequency response. I can't give an example of what sound would produce 15,000Hz, but whether the mic can pick this up or not, my design is based on a voltage comparison between the two mics, which my or may not respond to such sounds.

great project, as far as hearing different frequencies you could try here
SN96
do you have a copy of the pan circuit you are using ,and how far apart do you have the microphones
it will help me finish my project fast, adding ·a male/female automatic filter switch for my speech recognizer SAPI5.1 for my robot design

Let's stay focused on the critical next steps...
Can You tell us when can we place our orders!
Who do I make my check out to, or how do I provide my CC info?
This is the real important stuff!
I do not want to rush you by the way when you are ready you will let us
Thanks

I have use drawing and presentation programs like Visio and Powerpoint
You can download a free copy of EagleCad here: http://www.cadsoftusa.com/
You can also download ExpressPCB's free software here: http://www.expresspcb.com/ExpressPCBHtm/Free_cad_software.htm
