Pressure Sensor?

It seems that parallax no longer carries a barometric style pressure sensor.· Does anyone know of an alternative, something that will read from a low of 25 in mercury to a high of 33 in mercury.· Any help or suggestions on manufacturers would be greatly appreaciated.· I am trying to use this sensor in conjunction with the BS2PE stamp module for a E.E lab project.·

    Shane,

    See the Digi-Key catalog, pages 1692 - 1693. Or goto digikey.com and search for "pressure sensor".

    Here is one site;

    Arrow, and Digikey electronics both have sensors, but you would have to interface them yourself.

    The map sensors used on Fords from 1985 and up ( not sure how far up) put out a variable frequency square wave from about 90 to 160 Hz, which would make them nice for interfacing. The turbo 2.3 Ford and the Super Coupe T-birds would likely have a 2 bar sensor. Might be pretty easy to grab one out of a salvage yard or ebay.

    Just a quick question?
    If perfect vacuum is approx. 28 inches mercury, How do you get to
    33 inches mercury.

    The perfect vacuum thing is something that I thought I understood.

    Thanks for any response to this trivial question.

    Well of course this thread is from 2006... :)

    In those 7 years, I don't recall seeing anyone post about using EG's mysterious but affordable pressure sensor, a bargain at just $1.49...

    Who will man up and answer the call? :)

    @erco - I might just have to order a few of those to play with.
