Sharp GP2D02 IR Ranger help

I just got two Sharp GP2D02 IR Rangers. I downloaded the basic stamp app on the site.

However the output from the range finder shows a constant number of 255 during the 100 distance check loop. The interfacing diode is in place. I have tried to hook a 33uF capacitor between the basic stamp II and the red wire leading to the VDD as stated in this document

Any suggestions?

    Double check your I/O pins and make sure that they are working properly or change to a different set of I/O pins and then modify the code.· You may have a defective Sharp GP2D02 IR
    sensor?

    I checked the pins and changed the code. I found that the capacitor I was using was a 10uF capacitor. So I have a question is ther a type of 33uF capacitor I should be using? I found these onlinewebtronics_1883_83824253webtronics_1883_82434946

    is there any special one I should get or does anyone have a link to a site they get this type of item from? Has anyone used the· Sharp GP2D02 in a project, and if soo do you have any pictures of the setup?

    Did you tested without capacitor ? If the 'reset' issue doesnt not rise, then forget the capacitor...
