parallel LCD drive

hello,
I have a parallel LCD mdls162d65.
Can i drive this LCD with a serial to parallel chip like 74ls164 because i don't want drive this, and use 11pins of my bs2 only for that.
i try with shiftout but something going wrong.
How doing that please an example with sort code.
