I am using 8 QT113s in a design with a BS2, and I have not had·any trouble ordering small quanties from Digikey.· Or do you mean Parallax has discontinued selling the Qprox sensors due to supplier issues?· Hopefully QProx hasn't discontinued the QT113 dip package. I just·got my design working!·:0
Interesting...When I checked the Digi-Key website they were a non-stock item requiring a minimum purchase to special order.· Has this changed in the last 2 or 3 weeks?

·· I just checked their website and they now show a QT113DG part, which appears to be a lead-free part.· Checking the datasheet on the manufacturer website no longer shows the original part in the list, but shows the DG part.· I will investigate this further since the DG part appears to be more expensive.

I received a note from QProx about a month or two ago stating that they were replacing all or most of their ICs with RoHS compliant versions. Perhaps Digikey just didn't get their site updated when you checked last time. I have been purchasing about 24 of the 113s every couple of months for about 7 months without issue from Digikey.
So did you switch from the QT113D to the QT113DG?· DigiKey still shows the QT113D as Non-Stock, however QPROX indicates it's no longer a valid part.· Also there seems to be a price difference (increase) in the Lead Free part.

Yes, I don't have the packing slip or ICs in front of me, but I am pretty sure the last order I received was the DG. Other than price, and RoHS, it's the same part. I use the 113 since it has 30ms response time. They make some multi-channel ICs, but they aren't as deterministic as just using 8 of the QT113's, so that's what I've been doing.
Comments
·· The problem is availability.· They're only available in high quantities from Digi-Key and one other distributor.

Otherwise, from their site, it looks like it is identical.
