Boe-Bot contest

Hello I am a professor at the university of Brussels and I plan to organize a contest of robotics for all the technical training schools of Belgium but also of Europe. The goal would be to put to the test of "Boe Bot" to traverse a labyrinth. Which interfaces, which dimensions of the circuit, which means of recognition must one accept. If somebody already organized such a project, I would like to receive his councils. Thank you in advance for your councils.

    Michel,

Check out the Micromouse contest for maze inspiration. Here is an example: Micromouse Competition

I recommend replacing the walls with electrical tape on the floor.

Students should be given the option of the following parts (above and beyond what's in the Boe-Bot kit): If you decide to·keep walls (instead of electrical tape on the floor), this device would also be useful:· Regards, Andy

    Thanks everibody,
But in to my choice is to going tru artificial inteligenci programming.
Not enough with ifr sensor but i need feed back true a home computer.
I thing that could be a interresting point of vue to have some cartography of the labirynth.
Sorry for my bad acknowlegment of english, normally i speek french.
    Regards from Belgium,
    Michel

The Boe-Bot can plot a map of the maze in its EEPROM program memory. Or, you can communicate bidirectionally with a PC with a pair of these connected to BASIC Stamps at each end:

    Parallax 433 MHz RF Transmitter
    Parallax 433 MHz RF Receiver

    Yes andy, how hare you.
I'm still waiting to see you in Belgium with your woman.
Certainly what you explain are in to my project.
I'm lookink for a contest whos use only parallax product but whit the possibility to transfer data to a laptop.
What i need, are contest rules and contact to other people or school to start whith this contest.
I thing it could be great for parallax if somebody in Europa as a organisator of this kind of competition.
On by my side , i think than all must be permitted, excepting human interference.
Sorry again for my bad acknowledgment of your language.
    Say me: Bonjour michel.
    Regards.

What about using multiple sensors on the Boe-Bot, and transfering the data into Excel? I think you could then use a DSP algorithm on the data to create an image of the maze.

    Hello kevin,
Thanks for answer but i dont be a specialist like you.
My project is to give a maze to my student whos accepting all possibilities from parallax.
Imagine a maze true our Boe Bot walking en sending information of architechtural to a home computer.
This one have to do the calculation and perform a map of is discovery field.
I just looking for more information about the rules of contest and specially about the thecnical .
(Witch kind of sensor, or witch kind of program i have to accept).
    Sincerrely your,

Bonjour, Michel! (Okay, that uses up my French)

The Micro-Mouse competition sounds closest to what you are trying to accomplish. And they do have a wealth of information regarding maze solving, maze following, etc.

The suggestion about using tape instead of walls was because it is about as difficult to make a line-following robot as it is to make a wall-following robot. But it's MUCH harder to make all those walled mazes, as it is to simply lay electrical tape on a large sheet of paper.

So, if you start out with an 'electrical tape maze' following robot, your maze construction costs will be much lower.

And more easily changed, including size and/or complexity.
