    Sam,
Parallax sells two of my video modules. These are NOT for VGA monitors but are for regular TV inputs (RCA jacks). They are strickly black and white output. The cheaper one is video output only and displays 6 lines of 16 characters (it has sound output also). The more expensive one does video overlay and displays 8 lines of 24 characters, but does not have sound.

No·stamp is anywhere near fast enough to directly connect to a vga monitor, you will need a dedicated VGS controller for that.

http://www.dontronics.com/micro-vga.html·sells a variety of VGA controller cores (so you can choose the resolution you want), and provides 3 types of interface board to plug the core into. You likely want the TTL to VGA board.

Be sure before purchasing the unit it has an onboard video display memory, otherwise it wont work with a stamp (again stamp isn't fast enough to supply all the data nessesary for unbuffered driving)

What if you plugged the RCA jack output of the video module into something like the ATI TV-in card?

I have one of these and have used it to pipe video from the television and from game consoles onto my PC monitor.

That would probably work, but you would need the PC too.

Ahh yes, I get it now, If I have a whole PC then I can write the program on that instead of using the Stamp!

    Brilliant!
Why didn't I think of it?

Seriously though, sometimes it's nice to put up the output of an SX or a BS on a screen so you can see what's going on.

The StampDAQ application that comes with the Flexiforce demo is an excellent example of this.

My current project is an SX28 driving an 8-segment display through the MAX7219.
It also has an analog to digital converter, a dial potentiometer, and a whole host of headers for miscellaneous input and output.

I am building it so I can observe certain calculated parameters in real time.

One obvious application is to get a readout of the signal to noise ratio of a detector by digitizing its output and observing how many digits are stable on the display.
