No modem detection...

Hi...same comp as a few threads down...I gave up on getting the resolution right for now...I figured I might as well get an internet connection going to download the new drivers. The problem is, that the comp doesn't recognize my modem. When I say "Add a connection" it asks for a PCMCIA card modem to be inserted. Now, it won't let me click next without the modem being recognized. But when I insert the modem card (it's a3Com Etherlink III LAN PC Card 3C589C) It doesn't recognize it.
The funny thing is, it DOES show up in the card socket display properly...
We have Roadrunner Cable if that means anything.

    It needs the driver for that card to be installed..

    Here are the two files I found for it;

    ftp://ftp.3com.com/pub/nic/3c589/3c589x_1.exe
    ftp://ftp.3com.com/pub/nic/3c589/3c589x_2.exe

    And the page;

    www.3com.com/products/en_US/result.jsp?selected=5&sort=effdt&sku=3C589C-TP&order=desc
