DS1302 Timekeeping Chip

I need to know the time everytime that a door gets open.

Can i use this chip for that?



what other things i need to use the chip?

Assuming the DS1302 is programmed with the correct time, you could use it with a BASIC Stamp to log the time.· Yes you need the crystal, no there is nothing else required for it's use, although I would recommend a 3V battery for backup in case the power goes out.· This will keep you from having to set the time each time.
