Resonator placement in relation to the PIC

I am in the process of building my own Stamp using Parallax parts... I know that you are suposed to place the resonator as close to the pre-programmed PIC as possible, but was wondering "how close is close".· I am in the process of finalzing my layout and the resonator will be located .5" from the PIC... I know the only way to know if it will work is to try it, but was wondering if I need to revisit my design before I even start.· here is a picture of the board and component layout... any thoughts?

    That is not likely to cause any problem.
