Transfer data from the Javelin to a database

In my school project, i need to recieve data from an RFID reader and transfer that data to a database.Is that possible using the Javelin microcontroller.If yes, which database will work with the Javelin.

Or,

Slightly more work but if you know Visual Basic at all, write a small App to read serial data from the Javalin and then use the VB app to talk to Access/SQL whatever.

The benifit would be the ability to process the data with VB from the Javalin
