Need schematic / PCB software on a large scale.

I am currently using ExpressSCH·for schematic drawings. It is simple to use and free. I have not used the ExpressPCB program yet for PCB creation (but the company is limited in their PCB size anyway.

However, I have a large circuit with over 100 ICs, BS2px and SX28·currently being soldered together on a large perf board 8.5 x 17". However the·schematic won't fit on a single drawing page (e.g. 11"x17").
What I currently have is a portion of the schematic that is repeated over and over. However, I may want to develop a large PCB for this in the future.

What are my options?

Thanks.

Reduce your 'main board' footprint and have connection headers for 'daughter' boards.
For instance, if you have a bunch of circuitry that provides communications. You could put that on a smaller board that may also have optoisolation...you could then plug this in to your board and if you get zapped, you can just replace the board with ready made spares.

Are you taking advantage of both sides of the PCB? How about surface mount devices?

There are several options to choose from,

EaglePCB professional version, $800 for layout and schematic ($400 apeice).
    OrCAD Unison PCB, $5,995.
Altium Designer 6.0, formerly Protel, price unknown.
Altium also has other packages such a P-CAD 2004, and·Circuit Maker (still made?)
Proteus PCB, various levels of packages from 150-1225 British pounds.

There are various free packages availible, but they typically have more difficult interfaces and tend to be more buggy.

Whatever you do, before you spend the large chunk of change required for professional level board design, download the evaluation software, if they don't have one availible, dont consider buying it.
