Hello,
I am trying to interface 2 3-contact speakers for a new project. I have never heard of a 3 wire speaker before and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. Any help is apreciated.

How old is it? Is there a core magnet? Reason I ask, is that I have seen a 3-wire speaker that did not have a core magnet. Instead you drive the coils (two coils with common connection)
in phase with one another or out of phase with one another to get your push-pull effect. As I remember these speakers are light weight compared to their "magnetic core" counter part
and not as efficient as the "magnetic core" speaker either.

I have seen 3 terminal speakers that have 4ohm and 8ohm taps (or sometimes 8ohm and 16ohm taps).

I have also seen 3-terminal (sometimes 4 terminal) speakers for cars (usually sub-woofers) that have a single or dual-coils, depending on if you're driving the amplifier bridged or stereo.

Theres no coil in them, just a hefty magnet. I'm not sure sure about the exact age, but not very old. Maybe early mid '90s. They are Yamahas rated at 6 ohms

Isn't each coil in a dual core speaker (without magnet) mounted seperately?
One is mounted on backside of speaker, the other is on diagrahm, and they are driven
    out of phase?
