BS1 Sensor Interface

I have a few quick BS1 questions:
1. What is the code necessary to use IR sensors (from the BOE-BOT) with a BS1? Something about a "sound" command. I have looked in the documentation and it dosnt help much.
2. What code is necessary for interfacing a QTI sensor with a BS1? The scaling program (to auto-detect the scale value) dosn't work. And, can you hold the power line high by connectiong it to +5v to avoid having to turn it on and off?
I'm going out of town, and wont be able to answer any posts, so thanks in advance!
