Just about anything you can do with nearly any other microcontroller. What kinds of projects interest you?

PS: Be sure to add a subject line when you start a new thread -- I fixed this one for you.

Maybe, you have a look here: www.parallax.com/sx/projects/projects.asp. You'll find various examples of "real life" applications in this section.

Don't forget, all the BASIC Stamps past the BS2 use the SX as the interpreter chip.· =)

Getting back to what can you do with an SX Ubicom chip.

Quite a lot.
I have been puzzling through the world of synchronous serial chips and it is very diverse. Each major manufacture has their own preference. The SX chips can handle ANY format [often in combination with other formats] while other devices cannot. Also, they can operate as a MASTER on any set of pin configurations and as a SLAVE with the only limitation being that Port B must be used for the Chip Select feature.

Having said that, you may not be aware of when an Sx is used simply because the end product is a hybrid rather than all one origin. The 'big guys' are not about to tout that possiblity because they want all your business. But with the SX you can pick the best from several origins and combine with the additional benefit of high speeds and flexible architecture.

You might want to consider the "What's a Microcontroller" Kit from RadioShack. If you work through this kit, along with some of the downloads on the Parallax site, you can learn a lot. Adding an inexpensive multimeter would be good, too.

Here is the WAM Kit: www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2117994&cp=&kw=parallax&parentPage=search
