HI everibody

I'm starting a new project (still not finished the others........) in wich a sound level must be represented in a digital form continuously.
willing to work with the sx and sxbasic, but no idea of the method to arrive from a microphone to the sx I/O pin.
ANY IDEA ????

thanks

P.S. I have a limited knoledge of PBASIC, some of the necessary electronic skill but i'm not a genius

    Hi Ellizard,
See this link for an example of a sound sensor that produces an analoge voltage according to sound level http://www.doctronics.co.uk/voltage.htm#sound

If the sx chips can read analogue values (I don't know since I don't own any sx chips) then hook it straight in, otherwise I guess you will need an analogue to digital convertor to go between this circuit and your chip.

    OK --

to get even distribution of audio/AF with an ADC... shouldn't there be an "anti-log" converter between the sampled audio and the ADC (unless it's an "audio ADC")?

Otherwise, won't everthing get, you know,·crowded into the end, like using a linear pot to adjust volume?

An ADC0831 can be used for one microphone use, but if you are going to compare between two mics, an ADC0832 would be a better choice.

Viper, I think I saw this last question posted on another forum here. Please do not cross post.

    Happy holidays!
