How to adapt a SOIC chip to DIP (for a RAMTRON chip)

Hello I got a RAMTRON chip to interface to my current project.
It is SOIC package. It is a FM25640-S model, with 4 pins.

Which is the best way to·convert it to a DIP package without having to purchase those expensive SOIC to DIP adapters ?

http://www.sparkfun.com/shop/index.php?shop=1&cat=66& bottom of page only $1.95 for the 8-SOIC->8-DIP, or use a SX protoboard which has landing patterns·for 2 8-SOIC chips.

    inaki,
At work we do what's called "dead-bug" connections.
We turn the chip upside down, and glue it to the top of an 8-pin DIP socket.
Then we solder small pieces of buss wire from the chip to the "holes" on the top of the socket.
Now you can plug the device in, just remember that the pin numbering is backwards.
Sometimes you can do it with the chip right-side-up, the wiring is harder, but the pin-out is correct then.
    Bean.
