Hello all. I am relatively new into this whole electronics thing so excuse me if this is a no brainer (which I'm guessing it will be).
I am working on a project with DS1621 Dallas temperature chips (or the 1731 or whatever) with a bs2. My question involves the addressing. If I tie different address pins to ground is that how the addressing works, if so I was hoping to use a 3 switch DIP switch to address each board on a string. Am I going the correct direction with this?
Thanks,
Tony tony tony

PS this is similar to the temp chip question posted in December of 01 I think, I guess I just want clarification. Thanks.

If you want to use the DIP switch to select the board address, that's fine, just pull each address line to Vdd through a 10K. That way an address line will see a 1 when the switch is open and 0 when the switch is closed (yes, the DIP switch connects the address lines to Vss).
