50Hz Operation

I want to take my basic stamp & power supply overseas but don't know if the power supply will work with 120VAC @ 50Hz. I don't intend to use the power supply at anywhere near its limit. Will it be OK?

Thanks

It would probably be simpler (and safer) to buy an AC to DC wall-wart 'over there'. This will have the right plugs for the European wall-socket.

Otherwise, I believe a 60 Hz transformer run at 50 Hz will still work -- it might run a little hotter, but the BS2 doesn't normally 'stress' any wall-wart I've ever seen. This means, normally the wall-wart at 60 Hz doesn't get warm at all. At 50 Hz it might get a little warm.

I would also double check your voltage. Many "overseas" countries run on 220 volt "mains" for house current. This would pose a problem for most "wall warts".

There are international wallwarts availible that can operate off of 120V/220V 50Hz/60Hz and come with different adapters for the different type of plugs. They are typically availible from travel gear websites marketed for businessmen.

I have a 220 to 120 xfmr with American style outlets so I don't need any adapters & I know the voltage is 120. I'll plug my radio Shack P/S in & if it gets to warm & burns up then I'll buy one over there.
