If a stamp has 16 I/O pins, can they be used in any configuration.· i.e.· use 12 for input and·4 for output.... or .... use all 16 for input only (or output only).· Or is it always fixed at 8 in and 8 out.

Thanks for any responses.

Shawn.

    Thanks.

My reason for asking is because I saw the manual where it describes the pin layout.....where it shows the specs on the current sourcing/sinking capabilities for each pin.... then it suggested the max source/sinking on a "Per 8 pin group"

That "Per 8 pin group" is what threw me.

The 16 pins of the BS2 are divided into two groups: P0-P7, and P8-P15. You may configure the pins any way you like, so long as you obey the current specifications per pin and per group.

That is one of the interesting points of the Stamp. Any of the I/O pins can be not only configured for input or output but an pin can receive or send serial data (at TTL levels) as well.
