question about controlling high voltage objects

I had two questions about my basic stamp. I am new at this stuff, so I have simple questions.
1. If I trigger an event (like HIGH 4) from the board, I can control and LED, and small things like that...but how high of a voltage is actually going out?
2. What if I want to control a high voltage object, like a 110V light by signaling with an event from the board (like HIGH 4)? obivously, the board will not control these items, but what can link them? A solenoid switch?
Thanks,

The Stamp I/O pins are TTL, which means HIGH x puts 5 volts on pin x. To switch high voltage devices you will, of course, need an interface: a relay (mechanical or solid state). We have a new product called the RC-4 that will let you control up to four solid-state relays (for 120 VAC devices) from just one Stamp I/O pin.

Jon, do you plan to create a 220/250V version of the new RC-4 ?
    I live in France...

All you have to do is install the appropriate relay (they are not included with the board).
