SX/B QTI sensor

While waiting for other things to be resolved,· I have an oppurtunity to gather some more info. First question, has anybody done some code for this device in SX/B.

I know that this sensor was designed for line following, and "other things". The application that I am thinking about is a sensor that senses when a moving robot is just about to run out of floor. Specifically, the robot comes up to a staircase that goes down. Can this sensor be able to determine that kind of condition, before the robot tumbles down the staircase, and breaks up on the floor below. Any ideas.

Thanks in advance

That depends on the floor so you'd have to test; if the normal floor was fairly reflective and you could "see" it with a QTI, chances are that a significant change in elevation (i.e., a stair) could be detected and avoided. Give it a try!
