    The 12V has to be connected to the VIN pin, NOT the VDD Pin!

    Sure, but for now you can look at this picture. I have power to the Vin pin and Ground going to Vss.
    The schematics I have include the 5v regulator which is not wired up yet.

    Typically, the red is used for the + voltage, and the black is used for the - voltage. Is this how you have your BS2OEM's power wires used? If so, you have the two reversed from the normal usage.

    Also, you might want to look into using a breadboard, as you wouldn't have to solder things diretly to your BS2OEM. Just pop it into the Breadboard and do whatever you need......

    RadioShack sells breadboards, for probably something like $20 and they are really useful for things like this.

    oops, I have the colors switched up. teehee, I never could remember that.

    Anyways, I think I am going to contact Parallax to see if I can send it in...
