Krisc, can you send us a diagram of your connections? You have to make certain that on the VDD pin you ONLY PUT FIVE VOLTS to it. Anything more, and it'll fry it! Anything less and it simply won't work.
The 12V has to be connected to the VIN pin, NOT the VDD Pin!

Sure, but for now you can look at this picture. I have power to the Vin pin and Ground going to Vss.
The schematics I have include the 5v regulator which is not wired up yet.
Typically, the red is used for the + voltage, and the black is used for the - voltage. Is this how you have your BS2OEM's power wires used? If so, you have the two reversed from the normal usage.
Also, you might want to look into using a breadboard, as you wouldn't have to solder things diretly to your BS2OEM. Just pop it into the Breadboard and do whatever you need......
RadioShack sells breadboards, for probably something like $20 and they are really useful for things like this.
