Gettin no MIDI... Note

It's because I am an idiot sometimes. Reading the nuts and volts Gettin MIDI With it, Page13 pinout I read it wrong, I thought the pinout pictures was the basic stamp OUTPUT port not the MIDI INPUT port thus the connections were reversed. So I am on my way to makin MIDI.
I did this with a 9 volt battery clip I soldered up one day because the wires were broken, then I let the smoke out of a transistor before I realized the error.
Hey I let the smoke out of my first 10V 1000uf capacitor the other day running 12 V , scared me a bit when it popped. I think I will get a fire extinguisher in my hobby room very soon.
