Hi folks,
I'm a Fine Art degree student in the UK and I'm looking out for a bit of help and advice.
Basically I'm wanting to put together a robot drawing device (preferably charcoal, but can use a pen or pencil) and somehow, in some shape or form - reacts to SOUND.
Ideally I have a very large piece of paper on the floor which the robot can use, and I play sounds, say a CD audio album and let it react.
Maybe the robot could move in certain ways to different notes or levels? just a thought but ideally it reacts in a way that is pro-active so it doesn't just stick in one point for 14 hours or so.
Can anyone suggest anything for me to look at as I have no previous experience of electronics and I came across this by looking at David Bowen's work, (good example of what I'm trying to do - weblink: http://www.dwbowen.com
Any help would be super anyway!
Thanks, Andy

Parallax has just about the best user documentation and teaching materials on this planet...
1. Buy the Scribblerbot
2. Go through the tutorial
3. Exceed your expectations... you will be amazed what you can do!!!
Or consider using an inkjet:

Red, green or black ink - characters OR legible 1/8" tall text - your choice. Add the Emic Text to Speech module and you will be able to write and talk at the same time.

Had a look at the scribbler bot and that looks good but I do like the scope of the inkjet one, and how it ties in with my work. One question - is it possible to create things other than text with it?
·· It could be used to draw lines, arcs, etc.

As clarification for both Squid and myself, while I understand that the Scribbler can draw arcs, lines, etc., what about the ink-jet module?· Can it's output be set to a solid line, as opposed to various alpha-numeric characters?· (I suppose a solid block character would work.)· Could the line width be varied (possibly in response to volume in Squid's application)?
Also, not directly related to the Stamp, but are there water soluable ink cartridges available?· I'm thinking along the lines of having a kid use this on a sidewalk or drive way, but would want the first rain storm (or hosing) to be able to clean the "artwork" away.

·· I'm sorry, I should've been more clear...squid asked about the Inkjet Module being able to do other things that text, and that was what my response was to.· Yes you can.· In one example we have the BOE-Bot draws a schematic symbol for a resistor.

Thanks for the clarification,
Now to find some water soluable ink cartridges... (or use the permanent ones and turn my local "Dennis the Menace" loose on his mom's kitchen floor)
